Dr. Grace Lucas

Dr. Grace Lucas is an Associate Professor at City St George’s, University of London, where she is Deputy Dean of the School of Health and Medical Sciences.


Grace brings an interdisciplinary lens to her academic work, having studied English Literature and Medical Humanities, and worked for many years in applied health research, her particular interest is in embodiment – what it means to be and have a body in the world – and its relationship to mental health, with a particular focus on eating disorders. 


Her interest is also driven by lived experience of anorexia nervosa as a teenager and having publishing a bestselling account of her experiences, Thin (Penguin) in 2007. Grace is also a trained yoga teacher, with a longstanding interest in bodywork practices for building positive mental health.
